Having taught Senior High School English and IB English since 2020, I am committed to empowering my students to write confidently and develop skills that will both empower them to succeed in exams and enrich their daily lives. The past 6 years of tutoring, 4 of which were dedicated primarily to IB English, have equipped me with a strong familiarity with the IB English curriculum, and the ability to tailor my tutoring techniques according to the needs of the specific student. I have led countless IB students in analysing texts such as poems by Carol Ann Duffy, plays by Tennessee Williams, and books by Gabriel García Márquez. In doing so, I consistently equip students with the ability to structure clear and insightful essays that engage meaningfully with themes and global issues ranging from wealth inequality to colonialism to technology. I place strong emphasis on developing public speaking skills in preparation for the individual oral in addition to completing their written script, and similarly on acquiring broadly applicable critical interpretation skills for Paper 1 outside of just writing the essay. Overall, my teaching style is highly interactive and adaptable, focusing on developing meaningful and tangible skills which will look different for each student.
